1 | Defining News

News surrounds our everyday lives. From the moment you wake up in the morning and pick up your phone, to the evening time when you're scrolling in bed. Every website you open, search engine, or street you walk down, it's impossible to miss the news. Whether it be the latest celebrity engagement, or an oil well court case, you can find it all.
According to Britannica, news is new information or a report about something that has happened recently, or even information that is reported in a newspaper, magazine, television news program, etc.
As young adults, I'm sure we all see news as the channel that plays in the doctors office, or an interview you see on social media.
The news covers everything. Crime, sports, all the latest gossip and hits. The news is what keeps the world going.
The news isn't just a newspaper, either. I feel that most young adults, who didn't grow up with newspapers, feel as if it's all just about the paper. No one buys newspapers anymore, they think they're boring. At least, I do. But, when you see something on Instagram or YouTube that you want to fact check, you go to Google, you look it up and open a website. That is news. It is so easy to miss the news these days because we are unsure of what falls under the category. It's everywhere.
I want young adults and students today to know that news is all around us. It is easily defined as a report of recent events, according to Merriam-Webster.
I hope that people who read this page, can understand that the news is on our cell phones, our YouTube advertisements, our laptops, and everything in between. You don't have to go buy a boring paper to stay up to date!
